Seema Tyagi from India Spectacular Pakistan: An International Sugar Art Collaboration - Interview

About Me:

I was into Marketing, specialized in Brand Management. Five years ago, when I left the corporate job to follow my dreams, little did I know that this would be the turning point of my life and mastering sugar art would become an all time consuming passion. Journey has been tough at times, lot of hard work, pain, tears, sleep deprivation but all worth. I do what I love and I love what I do. It was just a coincidence … one day I was surfing channels on TV and I saw this program ‘Fabulous Cakes’ and by the time that episode finished, I decided that I just want to be a cake artist. I want to create designer cakes and customized cakes.

Designer cakes required both an artistic imagination and knowledge of technique to create that imagination. Initially I started with trial and error method but later on realized that if I really want to grow in the field I need professional help. So I did various courses of cake decoration with National and International Cake Artists / Teachers.

I take my inspiration from everything around, cartoon characters, life size characters/ situations in everyday life, hobbies, products...and the list goes on.

In future, I want to specialize in most realistic cakes and to share my knowledge with budding cake decorators.

The 3 tips I would like to give for becoming a successful baker to the aspiring ones are:

1. Training – Remember learning never stops
2. Practice, practice, practice – No matter how good your training/ class was if you don’t practice, its useless. Training gives you techniques but practice makes you perfect
3. Hard Work – There is no substitution of hard work

About my Piece:
Name: Benazir Bhutto
Benazir Bhutto was the first woman to head a democratic government in a Muslim majority nation. She was one of Pakistan’s important political figures, a respected world leader. She was an intelligent, confident and progressive woman. Despite her controversial political journey she was perfect in her imperfection and an inspiration especially to Muslim women.
