Ayesha Riaz - Slim & Trim Gym & Salon-Interview
The term 'woman' is another name for strength and inspiration. She has now become an epitome of diligence with her unending efforts in every phase of life whether it is inside the home or outside. Women, today, are not only involved in household chores but also handling offices diligently.
According to our survey in nearby areas, we have come up with the analysis that many working women are either single breadwinners, unmarried girls or women working hand in hand with their spouses.
Here is an interview of a single parent woman 'Ayesha Riaz' who runs a 'Beauty Salon' to support herself and her daughter. She is a resident of Gujranwala and owns a salon in Wapda Town by the name of 'Slim and Trim'. She is running her salon combined with ladies gym since a period of approximately 9 years.
She has witnessed many ups and downs in her life but didn't lose courage and kept on moving forward. Now she is financially independent and winning bread for her daughter who lives with her. She has 4 children but only one of them lives with her while rest are under father's supervision. She never intended to start this business until she got separated from her husband. While talking to her, we really felt another side of woman power. Here it goes:
Q: What are your services?
A: I am running a beauty salon combined with ladies gym in which I am offering many services of beauty and fitness both. I have equipped my gym with the latest accessories and gadgets. As far as my salon is concerned, that is also running very well. I really get very good response from my clients and that pays for my efforts more than anything. I am very happy with my work and I am trying to get myself updated with beauty, fashion and fitness training because this is the demand of my profession.
Q: What makes you a woman of strength and determination?
A: My strength are my children. My strength is my lively soul which always inspires me to do better and better and enable me to stand alone in the hustle and bustle of the world.
I was a very weak woman before as every woman is supposed to be. But when I underwent a disaster in my life, it shook my roots and I was unable to get to normal. But slowly and steadily I somehow managed to come out of that trauma. I was kicked out from my house by my husband and mother in law, who even snatched my children. Loss of children made me helpless, but my sisters supported me a lot. They stood by my side. They advised me to start a business so that I could engage my mind in some other tasks and get out of this trauma. Then I started this and now I can say that I am financially stable and can feed my children too. Behind every successful woman, there is a bitter past.
Q: What do you love the most about your work?
A: The dynamic respect and unconditional love of people are soothing for me. These things also make me stronger and determined day by day. I love my work very much and I am happy with this all.
Q: What do you think is your biggest achievement throughout your professional journey?
A: I think I have learned to stand alone and how to tackle people of different natures. I have learned to face challenges too. I have become more organized and responsible than before.
Q: What are your current projects and what do you plan to do in near future?
A: Actually I am planning to open another salon in Gujranwala city. Somehow I have become successful in managing it. And soon it will start running. I keep on visiting that salon too thrice a week. I have hired lady workers there as well to keep a check on the salon in my absence. Everything is going well now.
Q: A word of advice from your experience for women who wish to pursue a career path.
A: I would only say that don't let society decide your fate.
Create your own fate. Many women in Pakistan who are working are single breadwinners and they are bullied by many and even criticized for their work, but I will say that pay a deaf ear to them and believe in yourself. Never let anyone destroy your personality. We are also humans and we also possess great abilities, all we need to do is to polish those abilities and utilize them for ourselves.
This is the power of a woman who manages all chores very effectively. These working women work day and night endlessly for themselves and many do this for their children. Actually, these working women are true inspirations and these working women depict the happy face of Pakistan at a higher level if they get determined to do so. We all should respect such women, working whether in salons, cafes, schools etc. because they really mean it and our few words of appreciation and love can heal them deeply and make them more motivated.
